FAQ
What should you wear?
Some of the SSTI staff would start worrying about this in February each year if we hadn’t
set the dress code as business casual. Almost casual, really. To help interpret that, think
comfortable. Think no ties or dry cleaning bill if you accidentally spill something on your lap.
We also recommend layers to maximize your comfort.
How do you get to the conference?
For fliers, once you land at the Baltimore-Washington International Airport, the easiest
options to cover the last 10 miles or about 20-25 minutes of your trip are pretty straight
forward: taxi or shuttle. Taxi service is available to the Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace
Hotel for an estimated $23 to $27 fare. The Airport Super Shuttles are available for
transportation to the hotel. The shuttles pickup passengers at baggage claim every 30
minutes for $12 plus gratuity.
For drivers, MapQuest directions to the hotel are available here. The hotel has a daily
parking rate of $23 or $30 for valet parking.
For train riders, visit http://www.amtrak.com. Penn Station is approximately 1.5 miles north
of the hotel.
What about Internet access during the conference?
The only area providing free Internet access is the hotel lobby.
Will there be copies of the presentations available?
Yes and no. We’ve asked each of the presenters to provide us with a copy of their
Powerpoint presentation or paper for inclusion on a CD-ROM that SSTI will mail to each
conference attendee following the event. That’s the “yes”.
The “no” relates to our efforts to help keep your costs low and to minimize the environmental
impact of the conference. As a result, SSTI will not be making print copies of presentations
to distribute as handouts during the conference. We also do not publish proceedings of the
event.
